Meyer Appointed to Veteran’s
Advisory Committee
County Legislator Bill Meyer
has been appointed to the Veteran’s Advisory Committee to the Onondaga
County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
Formally dedicated on May 30,
1987, the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery honors Onondaga County
residents who dedicated portions of their lives to the military and defense
of our nation. The cemetery is located in the Town of Onondaga on Howlett
Hill Road. To date, 3,655 veterans are interred there.
The 52 acre Veterans Cemetery
grounds have been enhanced by additions of a Memorial Garden (1998) and
enlarged Chapel (2000), with recent expansion necessary to provide a fitting
final resting place for veterans today and those who will serve in the
future.
Meyer will serve a two year
term on the Veteran’s Advisory Committee to the Onondaga County Veteran’s
Cemetery which began on January 1st of this year. “I look forward
to assisting in the oversight of one of our county’s most sacred pieces of
land” added Meyer.
